At this year’s meeting, you can choose from three workshops, two from MAC and one from the Society of American Archivists.
Copyright Issues for Digital Archives, part of SAA’s Digital Archives Specialist curriculum, is being offered on Wednesday, April 23rd, from 9AM until 5PM. Please note: this workshop is being held at the National Archives at Kansas, just a few blocks west of the conference hotel, the Westin Kansas City at Crown Center. See additional details in the post below.
From Theory to Action: A Pragmatic Approach to Digital Preservation Tools and Strategies is one of the offerings from MAC. This workshop is also held on Wednesday, April 23rd and runs from 9AM until 4PM. It will allow for hands-on experience with a number of digital preservation tools. See additional details in the post below.
Soot, Mud, and Mold: Beyond the Basics of Salvaging Archives Collections is the other offering from MAC and the only workshop held on Thursday, April 24th (from 8AM until 12PM). This four-hour workshop looks to be very interesting and will show how to implement your disaster plan, make salvage priority and processing decisions, establish emergency response and logistics, learn about safety issues and protective equipment, perform salvage techniques for wet, muddy, sooty materials, train other archives staff to perform salvage operations, and more. See additional details in the post below.
